Dr. Louis Gilles brings an unusual path to podiatry at Gilles Foot and Ankle in Encinitas, California, having spent more than 20 years as an engineer and product developer in telecommunications before returning to school and graduating from the California School of Podiatric Medicine in 2015. He now holds a teaching position at his alma mater as Director of Learning Strategies and personally designed and implemented the podiatric residency program at Scripps Encinitas hospital, the first ever sponsored by that hospital. At his practice, Dr. Gilles treats ankle pain and sprains, Morton's neuroma, and diabetic foot concerns, and provides geriatric foot care for older patients managing age-related foot problems. Every patient at Gilles Foot and Ankle is seen directly by Dr. Gilles rather than a rotating staff, an approach he says lets him design and perform each treatment plan personally. He has lived in North County San Diego since 1997.
