Family Foot & Ankle Specialists, known as Baird Podiatry, has served patients in Barrington, Illinois for more than 25 years under Dr. James Baird, DPM. Rather than treating symptoms alone, Dr. Baird developed what he calls the Dr. Baird Method, an approach built on identifying the biomechanical stress, structural changes, and connective tissue irritation that underlie foot and ankle pain, then correcting the movement patterns that caused it. Visits typically include a biomechanical evaluation, footwear guidance, targeted strengthening exercises, and education about how a condition developed, aiming to restore long-term mobility rather than offer temporary relief. The practice also supplements this approach with modern regenerative therapies, including Class IV laser treatment, EPAT shockwave therapy, physical therapy, and platelet-rich plasma treatments to speed healing. Dr. Baird earned his exercise physiology degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, his podiatric medicine degree from the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, and completed surgical residency training at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago.
