Minimally Invasive Foot & Ankle Center, known as MIFAC and led by Dr. Hummira Abawi, FACFAS, DABPM, serves pediatric and adult patients in Columbia, Maryland. Dr. Abawi is a double board-certified podiatric surgeon with over a decade of experience who has performed thousands of inpatient and outpatient procedures, and she is recognized as among the first female surgeons on the East Coast to perform minimally invasive bunion and hammertoe surgery. The practice treats sports injuries, Achilles tendon issues, arthritis, flat feet, bunions, hammertoes, and diabetic foot problems, and offers deformity correction for pediatric congenital conditions, including clubfoot, and adult foot and ankle deformities. Wound care services address diabetic and pressure ulcers, while minimally invasive surgical techniques are used for bunion and hammertoe correction, tendon repairs, and joint stabilization. The practice also provides custom orthotics, fracture management, and digital x-ray and ultrasound imaging, along with an on-site ambulatory surgery center that allows many procedures to be performed without a hospital stay.
