The Foot Nurse is a nurse-led foot care service founded in 2016 by Katie Sikel, RN, BSN, CFCS, providing routine foot care to seniors and other clients throughout the Twin Cities metro, including a wellness suite in Lake Elmo. A team of registered nurses offers toenail trimming, corn and callus reduction, ingrown toenail care, fungal nail management, and diabetic foot assessments, through both in-home visits and clinic or community center appointments. The service positions itself as a complement to traditional podiatry practices, focused on the kind of routine, preventive foot care that keeps clients comfortable and mobile between doctor visits. Appointments can be booked online, and evening and weekend hours are available at the Lake Elmo suite for added flexibility. Because services are private pay, insurance is not billed, though HSA and FSA funds can be used. The Foot Nurse also mentors nurses interested in starting their own foot care businesses.
