Dr. Paul Coffin has practiced podiatric medicine in the Sioux City area for more than three decades, now based in South Sioux City, Nebraska, where he has narrowed his focus to biomechanics and custom orthotics after years of broader podiatric practice. Licensed in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota, Dr. Coffin evaluates patients' gait and body alignment before prescribing custom orthotics or recommending other conservative treatments such as medication, injection therapy, stretching exercises, or footwear changes, and he built his own orthotics lab, later expanding it to fabricate devices for other practitioners as well. His approach draws on training under his late uncle, sports podiatry pioneer Dr. Richard Schuster, and Dr. Coffin treats athletes ranging from professional basketball players to student athletes alongside patients with no sports involvement at all. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine and the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, and frequently lectures on biomechanics and orthotics to fellow clinicians.
