David S. Bastawros, DPM, CWSP, directs the Diabetic Foot & Limb Preservation Center, a hospital outpatient program located within Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital - Plano. A board-certified podiatric surgeon and Certified Wound Specialist-Physician with more than two decades of clinical practice in North Texas, Dr. Bastawros focuses solely on foot and ankle wound care, offering comprehensive diabetic foot exams to help prevent recurrent ulcers. His program combines on-site laboratory testing, radiology, and vascular testing with a team-based approach involving nurses, dietitians, and specialists in vascular surgery, infectious disease, and endocrinology. Dr. Bastawros serves as Regional Medical Director for Limb Preservation & Wound Care across several Baylor Scott & White facilities in Plano, Denton, and McKinney, and he follows published, evidence-based protocols to methodically diagnose why a wound isn't healing rather than simply changing dressings. He earned his podiatric medical degree from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine and completed his residency at the Boston Veterans' Health Care System.
