Mark McDonnell, DPM, practices foot and ankle medicine at San Marcos Orthopedics, treating patients throughout San Marcos and Southwest Austin. A U.S. Army veteran who once served as Chief of Podiatry at Fort Hood, Dr. McDonnell has been board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons for more than twenty years and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. His practice covers foot and ankle trauma, bunion and hammertoe correction, arthritis management including total ankle replacement and ankle fusion, sports-related injuries such as Achilles tendonitis and stress fractures, complex foot and ankle reconstruction, diabetic foot care for neuropathy and wound healing, and nail care for ingrown toenails and fungal infections. Dr. McDonnell also serves as team physician for Texas State University Athletics and tailors treatment to each patient's activity level and goals, favoring minimally invasive techniques and clear explanations of surgical options when they become necessary.
