Great Plains Foot and Ankle Specialists traces its roots to 1991, when Dr. Clinton Schafer founded North Platte Foot Clinic as the first residency-trained podiatrist in Western Nebraska; the practice took its current name in 2015 after Dr. Josh Wray joined, and Dr. Avery Mason, board certified through the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, joined more recently. Together they manage total ankle joint replacement, minimally invasive surgery, ankle arthroscopy and fusion, and reconstruction for congenital and acquired deformities, alongside adult and pediatric flatfoot correction and pediatric foot care generally. The practice also treats foot and ankle trauma and fractures, arthritis, heel and arch pain, corns, calluses, warts, fungal and ingrown nails, hammertoes, and bunions, offering diabetic foot care, wound care, sports injury treatment, and custom orthotics. No referral is needed, and the practice maintains a main office in North Platte with outreach visits to Western and Central Nebraska and Kansas communities.
